Beyond the known facts, the report draws attention to the future of suppressed and charged individuals, which is still in limbo. Many cases are still under investigation by the police or military prosecutors who will decide whether to recommend prosecution. The Amnesty report is just part of a bigger picture. Last year, the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights revealed that at least 113 people were prosecuted for expressing opinions about the constitutional referendum. Such a mindset is not helpful if the regime wants to achieve national reconciliation and heal the political divide.
